Depression, Ulcers, Poor Digestion, Gas, Bloating, Fatigue and Shortness of Breath = parasites?

More and more I seem to be meeting people who have some or all of the symptoms mentioned above.  Some are taking anti-depressants, while others have been hospitalized and taking many meds for a problem that is going on undiagnosed.

Don’t believe me, then watch this video.  It’s about a patient who was diagnosed with a brain tumor after being rendered completely unable to function.  You will be shocked.

So what are we talking about here?

Parasites.  These nasty critters can lurk in the dark corners of your body and wreak havoc.

What worries me is that people think that they have to travel to a developing nation to get parasites, but the truth is very far from that.  Parasites can be transmitted through improperly cooked food, kissing, unwashed hands with fecal matter that touch food, contaminated water and several other ways.  Then there are parasites like H. pylori that are pathogenic to humans and have been known to infect up to 50% of the human population.

And in the case of ulcers, did you know that studies show parasites can be responsible for over 80% of all ulcers that lead to cancer?  The culprit?  A spiral-shaped bacteria called Heliocobacter pylori (H. pylori).   This parasite is no joke.  More recent studies have revealed that 90 to 100 percent of patients with duodenal (the first section of the small intestine) ulcers and 70% of those with gastric (stomach) ulcers are all infected with H. pylori.  And H. Pylori parasites are able to thrive in very acidic environments so if your more acidic than alkaline then you’re a playground for these parasite to live and play.

How is this possible?  Well, the way this parasite works is quite fascinating to me.  It kind of acts like the enemy of our souls.  Making us numb to the things and people around us and then attacking us by penetrating to the core of our being.   H. pylori produces an enzyme called urease that neutralizes stomach acid and allows it to thrive, even penetrating and damaging the protective barrier of the stomach lining.  There it begins to weave its web and once there all kinds of health complications can occur.

But there is hope.  Testing for this parasite and others can be done in your routine check up; you just need to ask your doctor, because parasite checks are usually not offered as part of a well visit, which in my opinion is very bad.  This however was not the case when we lived abroad.  All our well visits included a little container for poop, urine and a saliva swab.

So ask your doctor if you suspect you may have H. pylori or any of the parasites and or symptoms mentioned below.

Pinworms – may cause severe anal itching, insomnia and restlessness. These worms tend to migrate out through the anus at night to lay eggs.

Hookworms – may cause the soles of the feet to itch. Bloody spit from the mouth, fever, rash and loss of appetite are also possible.

Threadworms – may cause coughing, abdominal pain, diarrhea, gas and itchy red abrasions on the anus.

Tapeworms may cause weight loss, abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea.

Ascarids – may cause bloating, stomach pain, vomiting and shortness of breath.

Microscopic Roundworms – may cause trichinosis leading to muscle damage and complications of the cardio and neuro systems.
